Overview
Our six day Finnmark Lodge and Ski trip offers all the excitement of exploring the different islands in the Finnmark Alps, while also enjoying the creature comforts of a spacious ski lodge. If you are not of the sailing variety and would like to experience the beauty and uniqueness of skiing in the Arctic Circle, but come back to a comfortable lodge where you can relax in a hot tub or sauna, then this trip is for you! Because weather always dictates our acces to the mountains and where the best snow can be found, our lodge-based trip allows us the versatility to approach our ski objectives either via road or by boat. If the weather is calm and stable, we'll take a small boat to a nearby island to ski summit to sea. If the weather is promising a great pow day but the seas are rough, then we'll drive to the objective that will provide us with the goods. We will have access to some of the most remote and secluded skiing the Finnmark Alps have to offer!

Daily Routine
Each morning we awake to fresh coffee and breakfast, where we'll look at the weather and discuss our objective for the day. After packing our lunch and ski packs, we'll head out by car or by boat and skin up to a summit with 360 degree views of the sea and sky. Depending on the weather as well as the energy level of the team, we can expect to ski anywhere from 1500 - 4500 vertical feet per day. After a day of lapping pow runs, or a traverse up and over a glacier, we'll return to our lodge and relax while our evening meal is being prepared. A communal dinner will give us the opportunity to reflect on the day, share stories, and plan for our adventure the next day!
Logistics
Transport
Transport from Alta airport to our ski lodge is included and requires either traveling by bus or by ferry. Flights into Alta airport are not included, and we recommend flying into Alta airport 2 days early, to allow for any baggage arrival issues. Because the town of Alta has only grocery stores and accommodations, an alternative and possibly better option is to fly into Tromso, Norway 2 days early to secure any last minute ski gear needs at one of its many equipment shops, and then take a 45 minute flight to Alta on the morning our lodge trip begins.

Food
​
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all provided while at the lodge. If you have any special dietary restrictions, please let us know well in advance of the trip. We recommend bringing a few supplemental snacks as well as electrolytes for those big days out on the mountain.

Currency
​
Norway uses almost all electronic transactions for purchases, so the best way to pay for things is with credit card. Tips are not included in the cost, and can be paid in either US dollars or Venmo/Paypal or Wise.

Equipment
​
We send out a comprehensive equipment list prior to the trip. We will have limited storage space inside the lodge, therefore we encourage you to bring no more than two pairs of skis, one pair of boots, one touring pack and one medium sized duffle with your clothes and miscellaneous items. Most participants have found it beneficial to fly into Tromso one day early to guarantee that their bags arrive in time for the trip. If you have more gear than the allotted list above, it is possible to leave luggage at some hotels in Tromso for the duration of the lodge trip.
