SWISS ALPINE ADVENTURES
Switzerland in the summer is a climber's paradise! From alpine climbing on gneiss ridgelines and multi pitching on granite peaks, to sport climbing on giant limestone walls, there is a style for everyone. Find out more about our custom trips below and contact us to book your dream trip!
The Matterhorn

The Matterhorn rises to 4,478 meters and is the most iconic mountain in the Alps. On the Swiss side, the Hornli Ridge is the most common route and is accessed from the town of Zermatt. Another high quality route, the Lion Ridge, starts on the Italian side. To climb the Matterhorn takes 2 days, with an overnight low on the mountain at a wardened alpine hut.

To prepare for climbing the Matterhorn, one must have good acclimatization and cardio, experience with 3rd to 4th class rock scrambling with a backpack and crampons. We offer training packages that help you gain the experience you'll need in time for your summit of the Matterhorn.
The Eiger: Mittellegi Route

The Eiger represents the deep history of climbing culture in Switzerland, with the first ascent of this impressive peak being done is 1858. The Mittellegi Route is a beautiful ridgeline starting with a train ride up from Grindelwald that delivers you directly onto the Challifirn Glacier. Once crossed, a traverse brings you to the Mittellegi hut which sits on the ridge proper and marks the start of the route. Enjoy an overnight stay here before climbing the long ridgeline, summiting the Eiger, then descending via the South Ridge. Another evening spent at the Monchsjoch Hut is a great way to celebrate your success and wind down from an amazing alpine adventure.

Training for the Mittellegi Route involves climbing 5th class rock at elevation with a backpack, 3rd class scrambling, cardio for long day endurance, glacier travel, and practice on rock and snow with crampons. We offer comprehensive training packages highly focused to produce successful outcomes.
Custom Mountaineering Trips

Do you have a peak you've been eyeing and want to tick off your bucket list? Switzerland boasts so many beautiful and aesthetic alpine summits, including Weisshorn, Mont Dom, Monte Rosa, and more! Imagine a 360 panoramic view of glaciers and mountain ranges, all without the crowds of the Matterhorn. These trips can even be linked together into longer traverses, with each night spent at a different alpine hut. We can build a custom trip that focuses on glaciers, rock climbing, or steep snow - the variety in the Alps is unlimited.

Preparation for these trips requires some training at altitude, rock climbing or scrambling, and some experience with glacier travel and crevasse rescue. We can add in training days to help you fill in any training gaps.
Beginner Mountaineering Course

Have you been dreaming of summiting the gorgeous peaks of the Swiss Alps, but not sure if you have the skills? Many of these majestic peaks offer a perfect playground for us to practice the essential skills needed for mountaineering, and still enable us to reach the summit. In this 3-day course, you'll learn how to properly use and employ an ice axe and crampons, the basics of glacier travel and crevasse rescue, and the techniques of steeper snow and rock travel.

Prerequisites for this course include good cardio and endurance for 8 to 10 hours of constant movement at above 3,000 meters (10,000 ft), some experience hiking and scrambling, and being comfortable with exposure. We can provide training agendas that help to prepare you for these courses.
Multi Pitch Rock Climbing

Switzerland offers super fun multi pitch routes on high quality granite and gneiss. Many climbs are accessible from wardened huts where we establish our basecamp. From easy and moderate slab climbing, to exposed ridge traverses and challenging headwalls, there are many amazing climbing areas to choose from. The West Ridge of Salbitschijen boasts a long knife-edge ridgeline; Furka Pass provides stellar granite walls with panoramic views over multiple valleys; Piz Badile lies at the top of many climbers' bucket lists due to its classic north facing Cassin Route; and, the Wiwanni cirque provides fantastic sport and trad routes to help train for bigger objectives. Once you climb here you won't want to go anywhere else!
Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata, or "Iron Road", is a historically classic way of climbing in the Alps. Originally built during World War I for Italian troops to mobilize through the Italian mountains, these systems of cables and ladders have been developed into recreational outlets for visitors and locals alike. Via Ferrata courses range from easy to difficult, from short to multi-day, and even links between huts. With just a day pack and minimal climbing kit, one can traverse over peaks and experience the Swiss Alps in a very unique way. If you're looking for a climbing-style adventure without having to bring a ton of gear or know the intricacies of climbing technique, then this adventure could be for you!
